The Best Naruto Movies

Naruto Shippuden is not only a popular and long-running anime series, it also is a popular movie series. To date, there are 9 Naruto movies, with three being from the original Naruto series and the remaining movies being Naruto Shippuden movies. The following is a list compiled from fan forums and message boards of three of the best movies in the series. We also have top slice of life animes.

Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow

Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow—released in 2004, the plot centers around Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura being called to protect a film actress from being kidnapped during the shooting of her latest film. The actress is later revealed as a princess from an island called the Land of Snow. During the shooting of the film, henchmen sent by villain Doto try to kidnap the princess but are thwarted by Naruto and his team. Eventually, the princess is captured and Naruto is captured trying to rescue the princess. Sasuke and the rest of the team, along with Naruto, do battle with Doto and his henchman and eventually defeat them. The princess returns to her royal duties but will not give up on acting.

The Movie

Naruto Shippuden The Movie—Released in Japan in 2008 and the United States the following year, the plot of the movie centers on a character who releases a demon that nearly destroyed the world from the prison from which it was housed. The demon, vowing never to be defeated again, unleashes a horde of demons upon the world. Naruto, along with Team 7 members Lee, Sakura and Neji are assigned to protect a maiden by the name of Shion. Shion is the only person who can seal the demon away forever.

Legend of the Stone of Gelel

Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel—The movie was released in Japan in 2005 and interestingly did not get released theatrically in the United States. It was aired on Cartoon Network and released on DVD in 2008. The movie revolves around a mysterious and special mineral called the Gelel Stone which has tremendous power. A mysterious knight named Temujin convinces Naruto to join his group, who is under employ by Lord Haido to search for the Gelel Stone in order to harness its power to create a utopian world. However, Naruto discovers that Lord Haido has darker plans, which includes sacrificing the lives of innocent people and children in order to capture the Stone of Gelel and create utopia.
